DIGITAL SPRINGBOARD #4 OPEN CALL
Media are not mere tools — they are the environment that shapes how we perceive. DIGITAL SPRINGBOARD vol. 4 is an open call by NEORT, transforming the digital signage of TOKYO NODE in Toranomon into a stage for works exploring "Media and Environment in Urban Space." In a city where screens, advertising, and cameras merge with physical space into one vast media ecology, the project seeks to make these entangled relations visible — and to imagine a city no longer centered on the human alone. Open call: November 10–29, 2025. Up to 10 selected works will be screened on the entrance signage of Toranomon Hills Station Tower B2F, alongside a related group exhibition at NEORT++ (December 5–21).

Artists
Brendan Downs is an international video artist whose practice bends the fragile boundary between signal and spirit. Working with analog glitch gear, vintage mixers, and the raw imperfections of cathode-ray technology, Downs transforms distortion into poetry. His work thrives in the liminal space where error becomes intentional, where static and noise reveal hidden meaning.
With exhibitions across Italy, Canada, and Florida, Downs has steadily cultivated an international presence, showing audiences how obsolete technologies can still pulse with life, myth, and unexpected beauty. Each piece often begins as a simple image—silhouettes, archival footage, or live performance—and is reprocessed through layers of video-synthesis, data-moshing, and CRT filming until it becomes something uncanny, alive, and resonant with memory.
For Downs, glitch is not failure but revelation. His art insists that the breakdown of technology mirrors the instability of human perception, offering a chance to witness the digital world as something mystical rather than mechanical. By embracing unpredictability, Downs invites viewers to step into a realm where errors guide us toward deeper truths.

As a designer and visual artist, I’ve been able to connect different worlds: the physical and the digital, the local and the global. My work blends interior design, pixel art, 2D and 3D art, video games, metaverses, and Web3 art experiences. I’ve created over 20 digital art collections, including 3D pieces, pixel art, animations, illustrations, videos, and generative works. My art has been exhibited in Japan, Switzerland, Canada, the USA, Spain, Belgium, and Argentina.
As a curator, I’ve organized, assembled, and curated the first NFT and tokenized art exhibitions in Tucumán, including one at the Museo de la Ciudad. I also created the first metaverse dedicated to emerging artists. Most recently, I curated and installed a digital art exhibition at Nox Gallery in Tokyo, Japan.
As founder and cultural manager of *Maskay Gallery / Community*, I support emerging artists from Northwestern Argentina (NOA) in navigating the digital and Web3 ecosystem, enhancing their visibility and opportunities within the global art landscape. My focus is always on collaborative creativity, cultural impact, and artistic innovation.
As a creative director, I lead both personal and group projects involving Tucumán’s cultural heritage and urban intervention explorations. I also incorporate AI tools in creative processes and develop experimental art projects.
As a game developer, I’m working on *Suri Dimension*, a video game and playful experiences that are part of my graphic universe. This project is based on research and explorations of archaeological iconography from Northwestern Argentina (NOA), specifically the Yungas region—always with a deep respect for the region’s cultural heritage.
