Background of Computer & Poetry

Computers and poetry have cultivated a unique creativity through mutual influence since their encounter in the 1960s. When early poets wrote poetry in programming languages and scientists generated text through algorithms, code became an expressive medium beyond mere tools, and poetry transformed from static text into executable existence.

Now, in the age of generative AI, this relationship has become even more complex and enriching. Various approaches are possible, including code poetry that treats programming languages themselves as poetry, algorithmic language generation, interactive poetic experiences, and new relationships between data and language.

For the second open call of DIGITAL SPRINGBOARD, we have set "Poetry and Computer" as our theme, inspired by NEORT++'s exhibition "Computing Poetry." We await works that explore the boundaries between technology and linguistic expression, presenting new poetic possibilities.

We look forward to receiving your innovative submissions!
