Digital Art Works Open Call - Application Guidelines
The newly launched "DIGITAL SPRINGBOARD" project is an initiative that utilizes TOKYO NODE's digital signage to exhibit video works by digital artists in urban spaces. Exhibition works are solicited through open calls with themes linked to "NEORT++" and events held at TOKYO NODE, with up to 10 works carefully selected by the organizers to be displayed throughout the Toranomon area. Through the exhibition of digital art, this project aims to stimulate the creativity of visitors and office workers coming to Toranomon, while creating new vitality and cultural value in the area. This is the 4th implementation and the final event of 2025. We sincerely look forward to applications from artists who wish to express the possibilities of digital art in urban spaces.

Media ecology is a field that studies the impact of media and technology on the human environment, proposed by McLuhan and Postman. Media is not merely a tool, but the environment itself that shapes our perception and reality. Urban spaces in particular have become massive media environments where countless media—digital screens, surveillance cameras, SNS, advertising, etc.—merge with physical space.
Ecology and economy share the same etymology "oikos" (household), and humans, nature, digital, and material are inherently intertwined as one "household." However, modern capitalism commodifies urban spaces as places of efficiency and consumption, making these connections less visible. Through art, we aim to visualize the complex relationship between media and environment embedded in cities, and explore new ways of urban existence that are not human-centered.
