With nearly 35 years of experience in photography, I began my artistic journey with a Zenit 12XP SLR camera, where I fell in love with analog photography within the ranks of AFAL (Asociación Fotográfica Artística Linense). There, I took my first steps in developing negatives and printing on photographic paper in the darkroom, actively participating in competitions where I won numerous awards at the national, regional, and local levels. The arrival of digital photography marked a new chapter in my artistic career as a photographer. Today, my work focuses on the fusion of digitized analog photographs with elements from the everyday world and different textures (wood, walls, metal, etc.), adding depth and dimension to each piece. Using Photoshop and a rich palette of colors and nuances, I explore themes revolving around the female nude, creating pieces that combine the classic with the contemporary. I work with the technique of “pictophotography,” in which I integrate traditional photography with methods of painting or digital illustration. This can include the layering of textures, the use of digital brushes, and the creation of visual effects that mimic painting techniques. This technique allows for greater creative freedom and offers new ways of interpreting and representing reality. In doing so, it challenges conventional perceptions of what constitutes a “photograph” and a “painting,” inviting the viewer to reconsider their relationship with both media. “Essay Project” is an ambitious series of works that explores the intersection between photography and digital manipulation, using the pictophotography technique to bring to life unique and evocative compositions. In this project, each image is a visual essay that reflects on the form and essence of the human body, especially the female nude. Each image begins with a photographic base, 90% analog, which is then transformed using Photoshop. This manipulation allows for experimentation with shapes, colors, and textures, creating a rich and complex visual atmosphere. Thus, by incorporating both analog and digital elements, “Proyecto Ensayo” becomes a space where different forms of artistic expression intersect. This fusion not only enriches the works but also challenges traditional notions of photography. The project focuses on the female nude as its main theme, exploring its beauty and vulnerability. Through pictophotography, I seek to represent the human body from an intimate and poetic perspective, inviting the viewer to contemplate beyond the superficial.
